December 19 Public Hearing on Central Iowa Water Works

The Board of Water Works Trustees will hold a public hearing at its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 19,  to vote on transferring selected Des Moines Water Works’ assets to Central Iowa Water Works (CIWW) and final adoption of agreements.

This includes DMWW’s water production facilities, including the Fleur Drive, McMullen and Saylorville Water Treatment Plants; the infiltration gallery; Maffitt Reservoir and park grounds; aquifer storage and recovery wells; and select standpipes and booster stations. DMWW will retain ownership of assets unrelated to the production of water, including the general office and distribution buildings; Des Moines Water Works Park and the adjacent land; and several standpipes and booster stations.

The Board meets at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 19.  At its November meeting, the Board approved a resolution to set the public hearing to be held on Dec. 19, conditionally approved the agreement formalizing CIWW, and pending the Board’s final determination after the public hearing, conditionally authorized DMWW to join CIWW as a founding agency.
